What Am I Afraid Of? That’s a good question. For starters, I’m not too crazy about heights – largely because I’m clumsy, so the higher up I am when I trip or slip, the further there is to fall! I am also wary of what might be lurking in the darkness, so I avoid going out at night as much as I can. Fear of falling and fear of loud noises are said to be inborn fears that come from instinct. I’m startled by loud noises, and while I would not say I fear them for the most part – they do annoy me.
I have a healthy amount of respect for creatures that could harm or kill me, whether they are small ones like mosquitoes carrying disease, or large ones like bears which could tear me limb from limb. This also includes human troublemakers of all ages – especially those who are on certain drugs or chemicals that are sold to be used as drugs. There was a man here in south Florida once who actually chewed up a guy’s face. Whatever made him do it: I hope I never encounter someone like that!
I guess my greatest fear would be that I lose my mind while my body is still functioning. I would not want to be such a burden to my family, and I honestly hope that I die before this ever becomes an issue.
