30 Day Blogging Challenge Day 5 – My Proudest Moment

Graduation

My proudest moment was probably when I got to give a speech after successfully graduating from a two-year college course with a 4.0 GPA and only one day short of 100% perfect attendance – in my 30s. This was quite an accomplishment for a high-school dropout. I got my GED while I was pregnant with my oldest son, and a little over 16 years later he and I went to college together.

Going to college was hard for me, perhaps harder than it is for a lot of people, due to my autistic issues. While I was in school I went without a car during part of that time and had to take buses. I am NOT a mass-transit kinda gal. I’m a car owner kinda gal. I also had one of my favorite cars ever during that time period, which I bought from the parents of my aforementioned son’s girlfriend. It was a Chrysler New Yorker and I absolutely adored the cushiony comfort of its plush seats. I miss that car!

Every day I went to college I wanted to quit: It was my online friends who talked me out of it, and who encouraged me every step of the way. I could not have done it without the Internet community. The story about how I chose a 4.0 GPA as my goal is in this post.
