Being consistently inconsistent

Being consistently inconsistent is a trait I am not proud of, but nevertheless can’t seem to shake. It’s not intentional: in fact, despite my best intentions, life gets in the way every time.

It’s not just one aspect, either. From one end of the spectrum to the other, this paradoxical situation continues to plague my life.

On the other hand, there are certain things about a consistent life that do not appeal to me. Here are some of them:

  1. Rising daily to an alarm
  2. Commuting in rush-hour traffic
  3. Punching a clock and performing the same duties day in and day out
  4. Shopping on evenings or weekends when all of the other people who work 9-5 or similar schedules fill the stores

However, it would be nice to have consistent income I could count on, instead of the wildly variable fare I manage to scrape by on. Planning is hell when you never know what you’ll be doing from one day to the next.

What about you? Do you live a predictable and therefore comforting life, or do you thrive in a more wild and chaotic atmosphere? Tell me about it in the comments below.
