Three healthy habits may be the hardest of these for me. I do want to develop healthier habits, but that’s neither here nor there. The fact is, 99.9% of my habits are atrocious. I’m a junk-food junkie, and while I’m not a couch potato per se, I am not well enough to get much exercise most of the time due to my COPD. I really need to find solutions. So if you’re reading this and have a COPD-friendly exercise plan, please leave a comment or contact me.
That being said, here are my current three healthiest habits.
- Strawberry-banana smoothies (I add other ingredients, but they must not overpower the strawberry-banana flavor! I usually add turmeric and black pepper to activate the turmeric, honey, a bit of olive oil for an emulsifier, random juice or tea, sometimes vitamins or minerals, and then… sometimes I add all sorts of stuff like kale, avocado, other fruits including berries, carrots, etc.
- Changing my clothes when they’re wet or dirty and not wearing the same clothing two days in a row – including nightgowns. It literally grosses me out to put a dirty shirt back on – especially after a shower.
- Gargling with salt water twice daily. I started doing this when just rinsing with plain water was not sufficient after my Symbicort to avoid oral thrush. Ever since I rinse my mouth and gargle with salt water, I have not had another case of thrush. Yay, me! If you’ve ever HAD oral thrush, you’ll know that it’s quite painful and best avoided.
