30 Day Blogging Challenge Day 7 – My Five Favorite Songs

These are my five favorite songs at the moment. They are from differing genres, and appeal to me for varying reasons on different levels.

  1. Have it All by Jason Mraz Lyrics

This danceable and cheerful ska tune always puts a smile on my face, and I hope it will do the same for you.

2. I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) by The Proclaimers Lyrics

Another cheerful song, I would hope that anyone reading this finds (or already has!) a life-mate that feels this way about them. I also love the movie featured in the linked video, Benny and Joon. It’s one of my favorite Johnny Depp movies.

3. Whatever it Takes by Imagine Dragons Lyrics

It’s a little more difficult to quantify what I like most about this song, but it’s got a great dance vibe and I like the concept: WHATEVER IT TAKES. I feel like I should adopt that as my 2019 motto, because this year’s is “what doesn’t kill me makes me stronger”. This band also reminds me of another band whose sound I like, that would have made this list if it was a top ten songlist – Twenty-One Pilots.

4. Trapped (Love is Like a Drug) from Empire Lyrics

OMG where do I start? First of all I LOVE this show, the cast is phenomenal and I enjoy the music, but this particular performance just rocks my socks. The arrangement, the lyrics and dance moves, the attitude – I don’t know how many takes were required to produce this scene, but to me, it’s perfection. So much nuance, so much talent, ahhhhhhh.

5. Big Girls Cry by Sia Lyrics

Sia is an artist that touches me on a visceral level. Her videos are every bit as compelling as the music itself, not the least of which is because of her talented and beautiful young dancer, Maddie Ziegler. This is a song that makes me feel better when I’m utterly devastated about something. (Fortunately I haven’t been that upset in quite a while…)

That’s it for today, are you doing the 30 Day Blogging Challenge? What are your favorite songs? Tell me in the comments below!
